Summer Networking Slows

by Jennifer Gniadecki on June 17th, 2008

People move like snails in the summer. It’s muggy, it’s hot, and even the short trip from the air conditioned car to the air conditioned building can seem like a million miles. You may be wondering where all the networkers are.

They’re not gone

While going to the same events with the same people ad nauseam is never a good idea, you’ll find that you really need to keep your ears open to hear about summer events. Some might be obvious (like festivals) but parents with kids out of school might be networking closer to home or for shorter periods of time.

Attendance is up

I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone and she was at an event last night where 250 people attended! Even more amazing? Most of those people were spending money. I don’t know if one event is a good sign for a whole economy, but it’s nice to know that people haven’t curtailed all spending like they did a few months ago.

People are starting to spend money again, even on luxury items…that means you need to be out there in front of the decision makers and talk to them!
