Offer to Stay in Touch
A pretty good article from Buzzy Gordon over at About.com – my favorite line in the article is:
Greet each new acquaintance with an openness to learn more about that person, a willingness to help, and an offer to stay in touch.
Because it really can be that simple, at least at the beginning. Getting used to learning about others, helping them, respecting your own boundaries, and offering to stay in touch are things that are not natural to many. The fear of strangers can keep you from making new connections.
