Chowing Down Before a Networking Event

by Jennifer Gniadecki on May 24th, 2008

So you’re frantically getting ready to leave for a networking event when you hear your stomach grumble.

You realize you forgot to eat!

You have one of two options at this point. Skip the eating and hope no one hears your stomach go all grumbly at the event, or eat something before you go.

If you eat something before you go (which would be my recommendation, because if you’re hungry you’re not going to be on point, your body needs calories to power the brain dontchaknow) make sure you pick something inoffensive - this is not the time to chow down on the garlic sticks - that won’t come back to haunt you while you’re at the event.

Do onions make you belch? Please don’t eat those before you go.

If you’re networking heavily with lots of events in your planner, keep a short list on the fridge of things you can eat right before an event, and keep those in stock. Quick things like yogurt or a granola bar can tide you over until you get home and can have a proper dinner.
