Can You Fake Success Without Being Cocky?
Some people, when they play the “fake it till you make it” game are just jerks. They don’t realize it, of course, but they are. They flash a fake Rolex and talk about how amazing they are.
If you’ve decided you want to fake it till YOU make it don’t make the same mistakes. Keep a few things in mind.
- People want to do business with a successful company, but if you’re bragging about your car, they’re going to think, “Wow, you must be expensive and my money is going to buy your next car, isn’t it?”
- Instead of focusing on how successful you are, talk about how you want to work with companies that share the same vision of success you do. Make someone want to work with you because they want to be like you.
- Share instead of bragging. If you talk about your success in a way that makes others want to have what you have instead of making them wish for your failure (it’s a fine line) you’ll find it’s easier to close the deal.
